Real Estate Commissions in
Colorado Springs, Colorado
We in the real estate
community derive our income from commissions. We are not
paid by our real estate company and we are not on a
salary. We are paid a commission, at closing, from the
sale of the home. We are only paid after
the successful closing of a property. We
expend all of our marketing dollars on our listings in
advance, only in the hope that a property will sell and
close. Otherwise, in most cases, we are not compensated
for the dollars spent. This risk is one reason why
commissions are at the level they are.
As a Buyer's Agent,
our commission is paid by the seller, but is generally
built into the price of the home. A Buyer's Agent is
only paid if they close a transaction for
that buyer.
Cost: What is
the cost of a commission, and who pays it? A
typical commission to sell a home ranges from 4-7%,
depending on the property, the price range, and which
services the seller is looking for. In a tight market,
where there are few homes for sale and lots of buyers,
commissions are more negotiable. If the market is a slow
market, it will take more marketing dollars spent by me,
and a longer time on the market, to get the home sold.
Commissions will be less negotiable. It also will depend
on whether you, the seller, are buying another property
in Colorado Springs, or moving out-of-state. Many of my
clients are "repeat" clients who have used me on several
transactions. All of these considerations will determine
what your selling commission will be. We encourage you
to contact us for the opportunity to speak with you.
All commissions are
negotiable!
